Material
Our sapphire skates are made from single-crystal aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), one of the hardest and most wear-resistant materials available. Al₂O₃ ranks 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, just below diamond, which makes it nearly impossible to scratch or wear down during normal use.
We use ultra-pure synthetic sapphire crystal. Unlike natural sapphire, synthetic sapphire has the same structure but no imperfections, making it ideal for mechanical and optical applications. Even luxury watch brands use synthetic sapphire for watch crystals and synthetic ruby-sapphire for internal bearings.
Technically the material would be called corundum, most people just know it as sapphire. Ruby and sapphire are two types of corundum.
Development
Our skates are the result of a very long development and fine-tuning. They are made in collaboration with the founder of SAPPHIRESKATES.
Dimensions
Diameter 7mm
Thickness 1.2mm
Some gaming mice might need adjustment in the LOD settings for proper tracking. A higher skate leads to a longer distance between sensor and mousepad which results in a slightly lower DPI. We recommend raising the DPI by 10 points.

Compatible with all common gaming mice
Our sapphire skates are slightly thicker than normal PTFE dots to prevent mousepad scratching while still staying in the usual LOD range.
Speed comparison with slope test
All skates were placed on a 15 degree angled mousepad to compare the friction. We used our S2P. All tests used the same mouse to ensure the same settings. To compare the sapphire skates to PTFE, we used ESP Tiger ICE dots.

You can find them here.
If you have problems, come in our Live Chat!
Do you use natural sapphire?
No, our sapphire skates are made from synthetic sapphire which has less impurities than natural sapphire.
Which LOD settings do I use?
If you ever experience tracking problems, we recommend increasing the LOD in your mouse firmware.
Our testing showed that setting the LOD on a Viper v3 Pro to LOW still works, we recommend MEDIUM though for a more seemingless gaming experience.
Do sapphire skates damage cloth pads?
To our current understanding, they don’t. Some people claimed it but could not show sufficient evidence to back this claim. Our testing did not wear down cloth pads more than PTFE does. The most important thing is to keep mousepads clean since it’s more the dirt that makes them wear down than the skate.
